I try not to get caught up in the shopping part of Christmas. I believe that simplicity can be a wonderful thing. That being said, my boys are still too young to know the difference so perhaps that may change in a year or two. But right now I am savoring the simplicity of our Christmas plans: no busy shopping malls, no panicked rush to figure out what sweater to buy someone who probably won't like it anyways.
I love Christmas and the surrounding holidays. I love hearing people talk about Jesus and His birth. I love the live nativity scene my church holds every year. I love the decorations and the excuse to get together with family and friends. To me, Christmas is making blini in the morning with my family, seeing relatives, going to evening service at church (used to be midnight...but who wants to stay up that late with children?)
So now you know how we spend Christmas. How do you spend this season?

2 Lovin's:
This is my first year with baby for the holidays. And I cannot explain how much both Tony and I are looking forward to the holidays. Even though little man is still an itty bitty it means more to share the experience of the holidays with someone for the very first time. I think every year will get better and I don't mind the rush for the stress factor I just wish the holiday moments would last a little bit longer. They need to invent more holidays, lol.
I completely agree with you. I have a major to-do list but it takes a back seat to family time. There have been times I could have rushed to get ahead but I've spent it with G.I. Joe and Lucy instead. He wasn't supposed to be home for the season so we cherish the fact that he is. And I'm seriously not going to give up family time this year to fight for a mall parking spot ;)
