I go into one store to purchase, only to find that the one and only crib they had in stock (which the lady had promised me she had put on hold) was gone and they had no record of my calling in. So the Customer Service Rep offers to call around to different locations and find my crib, something I had already done from the comfort of my own home earlier in the day. I asked him to check the location nearest my home, which is the other store I had called in to earlier. Repeatedly I asked (borderline nagged) him to make sure they also had the mattress that comes with the crib as a package deal. He assured me again and again that they had both and he had placed a hold on both for me.
He also gave me a $3 off voucher due to my inconvenience. I will ignore the fact that $3 won't even cover the gas I spent to drive to that store. Okay, fine. Thanks for your time.
Fast forward.
My dear husband stopped by said Target after work and, lo and behold, they have the crib but no mattress. He asks if he can just buy the crib and get a voucher for the mattress, nope. But once again, the Customer Service Rep offered to call around to different locations to find my crib and mattress. Which she, of course, would put on hold for him. And heck, maybe she even gave him another $3 off coupon for his inconvenience. Maybe.
So now, at almost 9:00 pm, my husband is driving forty minutes out to another Target in hopes that they actually followed through on their promises and are holding said crib and mattress. The ending to this story has yet to unfold.
Thanks Target, for your awesome customer no-service. Maybe next time I'll stick with Wal*Mart.

Hilarious!! Gotta love the run around. It is especially lovely when you have kids in tow!
Man, that sucks,Ii wanna know if you got said crib!
Hey, just thought I would let you now I left something on my blog for you! look for it1 :)
That is so irritating. And something I'd expect from Wal Mart. I just order online now, so I don't have to deal with inept workers.
well that certainly stinks!! I'd be cranky about that for sure... hope he was successful this time, and next time - I hope they provide better customer service to you! (maybe some Target exec. will get wind of this and offer you some ACTUAL compensation for your troubles and to attempt to keep you as a customer! my fingers are crossed!) *HUGS*
Madison - I am continuously let down by Target's customer service - particularly their return policy. As a fellow mom looking for the best deal possible, I am a big fan of grabbing bargains when I spot them and tucking them away for later events (niece/nephew's birthdays, Christmas gift, etc). But seeing as how even with a receipt, Target will not allow you to return anything after the 90-day mark, this makes this proactive shopping experience a bit more difficult.
I was particularly angry one day when I went to return an item - with tags affixed and receipt in hand - and was turned away, telling me that I had no options since I was past the 90 day mark. So what did I do? I returned the next day with the item, but purposefully left the receipt at home. "I would like to return this but do not have my receipt with me". I was told 'not a problem', that they would give me store credit for the current price of the item. It was less than I had paid for it, but at least I got SOMETHING back. I felt this was an AWFUL policy, seeing as how I had proof of my purchase just the day before and was turned away, completely empty handed.
Good luck with the crib and mattress - hoping to hear that you now have both ... and more than a lousy $3 voucher for your inconvenience. Sounds to me like a complaint letter is in order ...
Glad you got both of them but what a hassle.
