One thing I have discovered along the way of my cloth diapering journey is that different diapers work well for different seasons for us. Sounds strange, I know, but how else can I explain that the pockets I loved so much during the summer began to give Moose rashes as soon as the weather turned cold? Something about cold weather and PUL does not agree with my little boy's skin, and caused horrible rashes for months before I finally figured out the issue.
Which leaves me wondering if I will find pocket love again this summer. See, one of my favorite things about fitteds is being able to let Moose run around the house in just a fitted diaper. It is not only super cute, but great for allowing his bum to breathe. However, with the weather being so cold I usually stick a pair of wool or fleece longies over the top to keep those little legs warm. One of the few things I am looking forward to when the warm weather arrives is letting Moose hang out at home in just his diaper and a tee shirt again. For this reason I don't really see myself going pocket crazy again. But then again I never thought I would find the fitted love, either.

I still love pockets more than fitteds for when we are going out. For one, they are trimmer than a fitted and cover, so they look great under jeans. They are also more convenient for travel in my opinion. So perhaps the pockets will become my out and about diaper and our fitteds will stay safely stashed at home. See what I mean about cloth diapering being an ever-evolving process?

I think for us, it's the fit that changes for us. As Cubby grows, things fit him better than others and what USED to fit so well, starts to not fit so well - so that's how we change things around.
Im the opposite. I am always anxious to try new diapers (fitteds, AIO's) and keep going back to my old standard pocket. Not just a pocket but a single brand of pocket. I try new inserts, and fall back to my standard. There doesnt seem to be much evolution to our process.. but we keep trying. I wonder if it will be the same on our next little one...
I would also have to agree with Nikki...it will seem to leak one week and the next the diapers fit great! We use Fuzzi Bunz, and I also have a few kissaluvs fitteds with thirsties covers...we LOVE our Fuzzi Bunz!
My friends an hubby say I am way to excited about cloth and granted baby is not here for another five and a half months but I cannot wait to try cloth. I have disposables diapers kid my whole life, (yes this is my first baby but mom did daycare, hence lots of diapers.) Question for everyone who cloth diapers I am about to purchase my first set of prefolds. What brands do you recommend to try??
I am just like you, fitteds at home, pockets out and about. I am thinking during the summe,r though, I am gonna use the fitteds out and about, too. The pockets are actually bulkier on Gory then the pockets....

This is the hardest part about cding for me! I started it to save money and be eco-friendly, but it's so fun to try new brands and styles. I loved fitteds from the beginning, but was too cheap to buy different sizes. Now that I've found some one size, I'm loving them. I need to get brave enough to go without a cover on them at home, though! My hubby is a huge fan of AIOs, with pockets next. We alos need night time specific solutions for our "heavy wetter" now. I agree that it's generally a fun process trying new things out and figuring out new solutions as baby grows. I'm excited to do newborn diapering next time around!
