random acts of kindness.

I'm in a consignment store, halfway through a line that wraps around the store. Everything is 50% off in celebration of Martin Luther King Day, and apparently I am not the only one who thought of going shopping.

Hubby is browsing around with Moose, I'm in line holding two curtain panels, two valances, and a denim jacket for Moose. Hubby comes rushing up to me and says "I have to go, its 5:00 and I have to get back to work. I will have to walk to my truck" (which is parked pretty darn far away). At that, he sets Moose on his feet at my feet and leaves before I can even think.

So there I am, 5 months pregnant, juggling a squirmy 25 pound 15-month-old baby in one arm, and an entire window worth of treatments in the other. And I am nowhere near the front of the line.

I am wearing my wool parka. About 20 minutes after Hubby leaves, it suddenly starts to get very hot, and I'm feeling dehydrated, tired, dizzy. Moose is screeching to be freed. All I can do is wish that my hubby or I had thought to get a cart. What were we thinking?

And then, out of nowhere, I feel a hand of my back and a woman's voice behind me say "Would you like me to find you a cart?" I turn around and there is a kindly woman standing there. I tell her I would love a cart, and she quickly leaves and returns with one. I thank her profusely while removing my lead jacket and strapping Moose into the confines of the cart.

What an angel she was for helping me out. It reminded me of the importance of random acts of kindness to complete strangers. God truly does His work through people's actions.

Indeed, He does. Sometimes I receive the benefit, and sometimes I have the chance to give it. Both kinds of times leave me with a warm feeling.

Yes, He truly does his work through other people. It is so great to experience, since many people don't show random acts of kindness toward strangers that much. I am happy the lady got you a cart, I probably would have fainted if I were in that situation without a cart.

That's awesome! So glad you had a do-gooder near by...don't they just seem to pop up when we need them most?

What a nice story. I bet that lady is a mother herself. Congrats on your #2 pregnancy!
