BBB Day 1: Softbums Review and Giveaway!

Sarah, the creator of Softbums Diapers, has given me the opportunity to test out her diapers for you, my readers.

The Stats: Softbums are an all-in-two diapering system, which means it is essentially a cover with a snap-in soaker. You can reuse the cover for multiple changes, you only need to swap out the soaker for a fresh, clean one after a wet diaper. As with most all-in-twos, you will likely need to wash the whole thing after a soiled diaper. Softbums are a one-size diaper for birth through potty, and typically come in applix but after some searching I was able to find one site that offers them in snaps.

The Trial: Sarah sent me a Softbums in Nuclear Pumpkin with a bamboo insert and doubler and a microfiber insert.

What I like: I, being the bamboo lover that I am, tried out the bamboo set first. It it so soft, and I love that the inserts are designed extra long so you can lay it in the diaper any way you want to provide the most protection for your individual baby. The microfiber insert is designed the same way, and since microfiber cannot be placed against your baby's skin it is topped with fleece, so no worries about bum-rashes. After prepping, I went ahead and put it on Moose for naptime. I find it very trim for a one-size diaper, and I love how it adjusts based on how "tight" you pull the elastic on the legs. Very easy! I also found it to be very absorbent...no leaks here!

What I Don't Like: I wish they were more readily available in snaps. The one place I did find that offered the Softbums in snaps was sold out, which may make people discouraged. The bad news about our naptime trial is that at first I forgot to put a pair of shorts on him, so when I went in to check he was laying half-naked with his bare bum up in the air. Its my fault I forgot to put pants on him, but I love that with snap diapers you don't have to worry about it. I also love the colors they are currently offered in, but would like to see even more.

Overall: I really like these diapers and would purchase more. What sets them apart from other all-in-twos I have tried is the insert design and the unique "sizing" of the elastic. And, my favorite feature, the trimness. I'd like to add that since writing this review I have purchased more inserts with the intent of getting a few more covers as well.
